6 Tips for Using Special Characters on Amazon

Keep Your Title 100% Plain Text

Amazon's style guide prohibits special characters, symbols and emoji in the Title field. Using stylised Unicode there risks listing suppression or a takedown.

Styled Text Doesn't Improve Search Rank

Each stylised letter is a different Unicode character, not a "font" of the same letter. Amazon's search engine won't match it to a shopper typing plain keywords — use it for emphasis, not SEO.

Understanding Unicode Styled Text

These aren't custom fonts — each stylised letter (like 𝐀 or 𝒜) is its own distinct character in the Unicode standard, mostly from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block. That's why they copy-paste perfectly into any text field without needing a special font installed.

The trade-off:because they're different characters, not styled versions of A-Z, search engines — including Amazon's — treat them as unrelated to the plain letter. Use them for visual emphasis, never as a substitute for real keywords.
